Training Phase
This is one of the most critical phases since this is where the growth spurt occurs and skills regression can occur without continued practice. Children should be physically literate by this phase. Continued implementation of athletic development activities to maintain previous gains. They fall into the second speed and mobility windows. Increases mobility exercises in their warm-up and increases the speed development drills during this class. Physical fitness will be 40% of this program. All aspects of conditioning will be introduced. Stamina, 3D integration, strength, stability and recovery techniques will be covered. Players should play 36-54 holes of golf per week and attend class two times per week. Players should be practicing golf skills 20-40 hours per week (including time on the course). Ratio of competition to training should be around 30% competition and 70% training. Players will be encouraged to establish a USGA handicap. They should know the rules of golf and have good control of their own game while playing, (knowing their distances with each club, shot tendencies and risk-reward decision making). Limit other sport participation to 2 sports.
