Fun Phase
Make sure all fundamental movement skills are mastered- locomotion, stability, object control and awareness skills. FMS acquisition will make up 75% of the program.
Utilizing discovery learning for most of the themes and skills that are taught. Utilizing ballistic movements(short burst of speed) to capitalize on the first speed window. Encouraging agility, quickness, and change in direction activities. Physical fitness will be integrated into the program with a strong focus on mobility(another window) and functional stability. Appropriate weight and length of clubs is paramount in this phase. Use lightweight, short length and high lofted clubs. Too often clubs are too heavy and long. One to nine holes a week of on-course activities that simulate golf, but with a high focus of making it fun. One 90 minute session going through our Fundamental Cyclone per week. Themes of grip, posture, alignment, ball position, stance and weight shift will be taught. Utilizing deliberate play activities to learn skills and keeping station times to no more than 5 minutes a piece. Ratio of competition to training will be 10% competition and 90% training. We will introduce rules, safety issues and etiquette.
